Cheick Ibrahim Fall and Griot Family

Cheikh Ibrahim Fall grew up with the traditional West African music of Senegal, but now lives in Budapest. He plays a several different instruments and is highly respected for his diverse and strong style. Last year we saw him on stage as one of Mamadou Diabates musicians, but this year he’s back to do his own solo concert.

Fall is a Griot. The Griot Tribe transfer their music, song, history and dance strongly through generations. Following those who went before you and conveying the tradition is something you’re born into. At Transform he’ll sing and play the balaphone and cora, and he’s also a very talented percussionist. Elhadji Diouf and Daw Coumba Diop will join him on percussion.

This will be a musical journey back to warm and beautiful Senegal.
