Mikis (Michael) Theodorakis (1925-2021) – one of the most famous Greeks in modern time passed away last year. A composer, conductor, poet and politician. Many knew him through his amazing music, but he was also a symbol of Greece’s struggle against oppression and injustice.

Greek-Norwegian Oluf Dimitri Røe, born in Greece and with a strong connection to the country, will tell us more about the legendary figure that was Mikis. Oluf himself is a musician. He plays the violin, bagpipes and sings in groups like Bengalo and Fri Flyt. He is also a senior oncologist and researcher at St.Olavs Hospital.
After the lecture Greek-Swedish group Taximi with guest vocalist Roula Manisanou will honour Mikis in concert. They were established in Sweden in the early 90s and their goal is to present the authentic Greek traditional music and for more than thirty years they’ve enchanted audiences. This concert was filmed for Swedish TV2 back in 2021, together with other artists, like Arja Saijonmaa.
